The point of this brief, from Uni, is to explore and develop an understanding in an area I wish to progress in.
My learning in Art and Design has always been from a specific Fine Art background. From School to College, I never had the oppurtunity to practise in Photoshop and other similar Adobe programs. My only experience came with Corel Draw for more technical purposes.
In school, Art and Design were two seperate subjects - effectively just Fine Art and Graphics. They would clash alot, infact, and certain teachers would discredit me for using techniques from both side of the fence.
In College, where I studied National Diploma and Foundation, these constraints no longer existed. Yet, there were never really any facilities to practise Digital Artwork. Whatever (very basic) knowlege of Photoshop I gained, was through my own time.
Throughout my time at College, I took my self in the direction of an Illustrator, before starting my Degree to practise furthur. I wish to use this Comm Tech brief to, finally, gain confidence with and obtain a healthy knowlege of Photoshop and Illustrator. This brief will be the first time I’ll use Illustrator, and there’s much more for me to learn when using Photoshop.
I want to move on from being a ‘doodler’ to a more accomplished Illustrator. I feel that refining and editing using the Adobe programs will help me achieve this, especially seeing as Digital Distribution is becoming a regular standard amongst Artists.
In the long run this will benefit me as I’ll be able to use my new knowlege to approach various ways of Printing, also.
Crit tomorrow and I’m dumfounded. Really should have an idea on where I want to take this ‘Comm Tech’ brief. Having to look at Famous people, I’ve gone from Steve Jobs, Bear Grylls, Thom Yorke to Tony Blair and George Bush. I want to do an abstract piece yet I’ve been doing a Wild West characterisation theme? Mess.
I need my scanner to work. I should be uploading more of my own stuff.
